SANTA MONICA PIER AND ABBOT KINNEY

Last Sunday, I was able to meet up with my college friends for the first tim since graduating, which was about 3 months ago. I think it was some time long overdue to hangout and we finally did. LMU, my alma mater, is located near the beaches (Santa Monica, Venice, etc). After a long and inspiring lunch at BJs, we decided to continue the fun, granted it being hot and also a weekend where all driving etiquette is thrown out the door for other Los Angelenos. It had been a while since the three of us visited Santa Monica. The last time we did was back in freshmen year during a weekday after we were done with our classes. It was one of our random Monday adventures, if I remember correctly. So, why not relive the memories right?

I don't often go to the beach, let alone Santa Monica beach on a weekend during the summer no less. The intense heat also encouraged thousands of tourists and residents alike to walk the pier and hang around on the shore and in the water to alleviate the burn from the sun. God, it was ridiculously packed. I don't know why I was so surprised.

When we were heading back to campus where we all parked our cars, we drove through Abbot Kinney, another SoCal hotspot. It was the first time in my entire life that I've been down there. Each block was filled with cute boutiques and other well known stores like Rag & Bone, Warby Parker, and Aesop. I almost wanted to leap out of the car when I saw the latter. If a brand could be my aesthetic, it would be them. Well, them and Muji.

Despite the crowd and the heat, it was nice hanging out with my friends after so long and wandering the area, being a tourist in my own city.
